Exploring the vast landscapes of Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom leads players to numerous hidden trials that test their creativity and mastery of Link's unique abilities. Among these challenges, the Mayachin Shrine stands out due to its playful mechanics that mimic a real-world game of pinball or baseball. Understanding how to locate this trial and conquer its physics-based puzzles can help you secure another vital Light of Blessing efficiently.
Finding the Mayachin Shrine Location
The Mayachin Shrine is situated on the surface in the central portion of Hyrule Field, specifically tucked next to the historic Exchange Ruins. Resourceful adventurers can easily spot it just slightly northeast of the prominent Hyrule Field Skyview Tower, making it an excellent stopover point during early-game exploration. If you prefer to navigate using precise coordinates, you can guide your character directly to the point of -0705, -0866, 0031.
Because the structure sits out in the open on the lower edge of Windvane Meadow, reaching the entrance does not require any complex climbing or hidden cave navigation. Approaching from the nearby Skyview Tower provides an excellent vantage point to glide directly down toward the glowing green structure. Clear weather in this region makes tracking the landmark a breeze even from a considerable distance away.
Setting Up the Fixed Device Pinball Puzzle
Upon entering the shrine, you will be faced with a trial appropriately named "A Fixed Device," which introduces a large rotating platform bridging a central gap. Leap carefully across this spinning mechanism to access the main puzzle arena where massive stone balls continually roll down a long slope. Stepping on the prominent floor pressure plate reveals a large yellow bullseye target on the left side of the room.
The central mechanic relies on a stone switch that controls a mechanical pivot embedded into the ground directly in front of the target path. To interact with this puzzle effectively, you must utilize your Ultrahand ability to construct a makeshift baseball bat out of the nearby building supplies. Gather the available stone spikes and white poles scattered to the left side of the main platform to begin assembly.
Building the Flipping Mechanism and Hitting the Target
To build your hitting device, grab a Zonai stake with Ultrahand and drive it horizontally into the round, rotating mechanism embedded in the floor. Next, attach two of the long white poles end-to-end onto that stake to extend the overall length of your striking paddle. This custom-built extension serves as your primary tool to deflect the heavy rolling balls toward the newly revealed target.
Return to the elevated platform and stand near the glowing orange crystal switch to carefully monitor the timing of the rolling spheres. Strike the crystal switch with a weapon right as the ball crosses the white floor markings to trigger a rapid counter-clockwise swing. Finding the perfect momentum requires a little bit of trial and error, but a clean hit will launch the sphere straight up the ramp and into the bullseye.
Unlocking the Hidden Treasure Chest
Completing the primary target opens the final doorway to the altar, but a secondary target on the right wall remains blocked by a hanging stone slab. To claim the hidden treasure, you must take an additional stone stake from the pitch area and use Ultrahand to secure it vertically into the ceiling structure. Lift the hanging slab upward and attach it flat against the ceiling stake to clear the path to the second bullseye.
Once the obstacle is firmly out of the way, adjust your swinging timing at the crystal switch to launch the rolling balls toward the right-hand side of the room instead. Smacking the ball into this secondary target releases the lock on a nearby gated cage holding your extra reward. Venturing inside allows you to open the chest and claim an Energizing Elixir before finishing the shrine trial completely.
